          IL-2 Sturmovik Demo 1.0 - HyperLobby Users Note, 04 September 2001
          *******************************************************************

This note explains how to set up and run the IL-2 Sturmovik demo flight simulator with online support provided by the HyperLobby gaming system.

Since the IL-2 demo currently does not utilize an install package, the HyperLobby user needs to perform several simple steps:

1. Download and install the HyperLobby client software from http://hyperfighter.jinak.cz NOTE: it is not necessary to uninstall the previous version of HyperLobby; the new version adds to the previous version.
***Note: in preparation for step 7 below, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the location of the IL-2 demo file named il2.exe, and make a note of the path (for example c:\il2_demo\il2.exe) that is required to get there.
2. Run HyperLobby by double-clicking the desktop icon, or from the Start/Programs/ menu.
3. Press the "SELECT LOBBY" button.
4. Scroll down the list of supported games and select "IL-2 Sturmovik (demo)"
5. Press the "CONTINUE WITH SELECT" button
6. Fill in the "CALLSIGN" and "PASSWORD" information (how to create new callsigns and passwords can be found at HyperLobby webpage http://hyperfighter.jinak.cz?page=hyperlobby)
7. Simultaneously press the CONTRL and SHIFT keys and left-click the "CONNECT" button. A dialog box will appear, and it is here that you must specify the exact path to the IL-2 demo file il2.exe (example c:\il2_demo\il2.exe)(see ***Note above)
8. Press the save button, and you're done!

HyperLobby is now ready for going online with the IL-2 Sturmovik demo. Operation is very similar to the way you currently use HyperLobby with Janes. You do not start the IL-2 demo, you start HyperLobby and let HyperLobby start the IL-2 demo for you. There are a few differences, however. The following sequences allow you to either host an online game or join an online game:

To Host

1. There are ten OPEN MISSIONS in the HyperLobby screen. The host selects the top slot, other mission members enter below him.
2. Normally you wait until all slots in the mission are filled. The host will then press the blue "launch" button beside his name.
3. HyperLobby will start the IL-2 demo automatically, and you will see the IL-2 Main Menu screen.
4. Press the "Multiplay" button.
5. Press the "Create new Server" button.
6. Select the maximum number of players you wish to allow in the game. Choices in the demo are limited to 2, 3, or 4 players. All other information on this screen is optional. When ready press the "Create" button.
***NOTE: The chat area is within the rectangle which appears in the upper left portion of the screen. To chat, left-click in the area, type, and press Enter twice. In the game you start the chat box up by typing tilde (~).
7. Next you will see the Dogfight Mission screen. In this screen you must select the mission, and you must enter the difficulty level of your game. To select a mission, left click it; to get to the difficulty screen, press the "Difficulty" button. After you make your selections at the Difficulty screen, press the Back button to return to the Dogfight Mission screen. Finally, press the "Load" button.
8. You now see the Brief screen. A map of the mission area is on the left, and a brief description of the mission is on the right. Select your home airstrip in the map by left-clicking on it. Along the bottom, the "Difficulty" button will take you to the difficulty settings of the game. These have been preset by the host and can only be changed by the host. Press the Arming button, and you will go to the Arming screen where you select the particulars of the plane you will fly. When your plane selections are complete, press the "Apply" button to return to the Brief screen. Finally, when you are ready press the "Fly" button.

After the full version of IL-2 Sturmovik is released with it's full documentation, I intend to support it with HyperLobby's automated launch algorithms for both client and server software. Until the game is released, however, and I have the necessary information, we must launch our games by clicking a few buttons J

Have fun!!! Ill see you there!
